Dog Licensing

All dog owners in Newbury must obtain a license for their dog by January 1st.  The license will be valid for the entire calendar year displayed on the license (expiring December 31st.)  For the licenses displaying the year 2008, the expiration date will remain March 31st.

For the convenience of the public, license are now available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the Police Station (downstairs from Town Hall.)  To assist with expediting the process, dog owners can click on the link below and complete the interactive application.  Bring this completed application to the Police Station with the appropriate fee and verification of current rabies vaccination and your pets license will be processed very quickly.

Fee Schedule

                                                                Each Dog
                                                                                        Up to three dogs:       $10.00 each
                                                                                        After June 1st: $20.00 each
                                                                                        After July 1st: $30.00 each

                                                                Kennel Fees*

                                                                                        4 dogs:         $25.00
                                                                                        10 dogs:                $50.00
                                                                                        11+ dogs:               $100.00

* The Animal Control Officer (ACO) must perform a site visit prior to the issuance of a kennel license.  The ACO can be contacted through the Police Department to arrange a site visit.
